Queen of Wands
The Queen of Wands holds a staff and a sunflower. This card represents a person who radiates warmth and sincerity, the wisdom, patience, and self-assurance that come with maturity—a person who, with a gentle touch, inspires and nurtures a creative spirit.

VIII Strength
The woman in the Strength card subdues the lion with a gentle touch. She is not intimidated by the lion’s force and therefore can approach him assertively and with compassion. She inspires us to rely on our inner strength and to face a beast with integrity and tranquility.

Three of Cups
Three women raise their cups and dance. The Three of Cups symbolizes celebration, rejoicing in another’s happiness, sharing a bond, and being part of a supportive community.

Two of Swords
A blindfolded woman sits by the sea crossing her heart with two heavy swords. This symbolizes turning inward, guarding the heart or stilling emotions in order to make a decision or a choice based on reason.

Nine of Swords
A figure sits up in bed in the middle of the night, his or her face in hands, swords hanging overhead. The Nine of Swords illustrates a sleepless night and can symbolize tremendous guilt, regret, or a painful realization. The swords in the card could be seen as a ladder symbolizing our ability to climb out of the troubles that keep us awake at night.

Knight of Pentacles
A knight on horseback carefully carries a pentacle. This card represents a person who values security and who is cautious and slow to act. The Knight of Pentacles also can symbolize a person who works hard, is dependable and committed, though possibly set or stuck in his or her ways, fearful of change.

Strength– Lab work is coming along well. I feel comfortable enough with what I am doing to set up and run an experiment while my mentor is out of town for the 4th. The lion is being tamed!

  2. Susan Gold Says:

Knowing you as I do, Sonia, I’m not surprised that you have been able to tame that beast! Your strength will continue to carry you far. Thanks for writing in. -Susan
